What you thought of the book:
I enjoyed the story and I liked how it was told. The story combines two different tales. One is about Margaret Lea an introverted, amateur biographer and the other concerns Vida Winters, a mysterious and very successful author.
Share any favorite quotes and tell us why
“Miss Winter restored to me the virginal qualities of the novice reader, and then with her stories she ravished me.” (Kindle location 589)
I loved this quote, I thought the word choice was interesting and compelling.
Who was your favourite character?

My favourite character was Margaret. I felt she was a kindred spirit with her love of books and words. I also liked how she was determined to find out what the true story was.
What was your favorite part of the book?
My favorite part of the book concerned Aurelius and his relationship to the family
Did you find anything uplifting? If so, what part and why?
The book was not as uplifting as I would have liked. At times I thought it was pretty horrendous,
especially the abuse the children received.
What did you think about the style and pacing of the writing?
I really liked the style of writing. I also thought the story had great pacing, it went back and forth between Margaret’s story and Veda’s story.
Overall how did you like this author?
I liked Diane Setterfield’s writing and I would be intrigued to read more of her work.
How would you rate this book?
3 Treasure boxes – A Very Good Book
